At salvation, anyone who genuinely repents, confesses and forsakes his sins, then believes in The Lord Jesus Christ and His Precious blood receives a new birth that comes with a full package of righteousness and every good gift from God.
The Father – son relationship opens before him, tremendous doors of opportunities that any other person who is not saved, cannot walk through.
Therefore in this lesson, we shall unfold some of these great privileges of the righteous children of God who refrain themselves from idolatry.
First of all, let us define the following terms:
1. Who is a child of God?
John1:12-13
But as many as received Him to them He gave the right to become children of God to those who believe in His name.
Who were born not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man but of God.
John 3:5-6 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.”
“That which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit”
I John 3:1-10
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us that we should be called children of God . Therefore the world does not know us because it did not know Him.
Beloved, now we are children of God and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be but we know that when He is revealed we shall be like Him for we shall see Him as He is.
And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself just as He is pure.
Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness and sin is lawlessness.
And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins and in Him there is no sin.
Whoever abides in Him does not sin Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.
Little children, let no one deceive you He who practices righteousness is righteous just as He is righteous.
He who sins is of the devil for the devil has sinned from the beginning For this purpose the Son of God was manifested that He might destroy the works of the devil.
Whoever has been born of God does not sin for His seed remains in him and he cannot sin because he has been born of God.
In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God nor is he who does not love his brother.
2. What is Righteousness?
Righteousness is God’s Supreme, Spiritual and morally excellent nature of doing what is right.
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.
(Psalms 89:14, 97:2)
This righteous nature of God is transferred to everyone who is saved by The Blood of Jesus and our own righteousness as filthy rags, is taken away.
Isaiah 64:6 But we are all like an unclean thing. And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags, We all fade as a leaf. And our iniquities like the wind have taken us away.
Zechariah 3:4. Then He answered and spoke to those who stood before Him saying “Take away the filthy garments from him” And to him He said , “See, I have removed your iniquity from you and I will clothe you with rich robes”.
Isaiah 61:10
I will greatly rejoice in The Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God. For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
God’s righteousness makes us alive in Christ but dead to sin.
3. What is idolatry?
Idolatry is the extreme admiration, love or reverence for something and someone. For example the worship of idols , objects, or human beings.
Idolatry is the act of worshipping and esteeming as greater and higher, another god, above The Almighty Creator who is The Only True God. This is, however, a sin against God because it is contrary to the command in the scripture below.
Exodus 20:3-5 You shall have no other gods before Me.
You shall not make for yourself a carved image any likeness of anything that is in heaven above or that is in the earth beneath or that is in the water under the earth.
You shall not bow down to them nor serve them, for I, The Lord your God, am a jealous God visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me.
Ephesians 4:6 One God and Father of all who is above all and through all and in you all.
I Timothy 2:5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men the Man, Christ Jesus.
THE PROMISE OF GOD
Leviticus 26:1-12
“You shall not make idols for yourselves neither a carved image nor a sacred pillar shall you rear up for yourselves nor shall you set up an engraved stone in your land to bow down to it for I am the Lord your God.
You shall keep My Sabbaths and reverence My sanctuary I am The Lord.
If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments and perform them.
Then I will give you rain in its season the land shall yield its produce and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit
Your threshing shall last till the time of vintage and the vintage shall last till the time of sowing you shall eat your bread to the full and dwell in your land safely
I will give peace in the land and you shall lie down and none will make you afraid I will rid the land of evil beasts and the sword will not go through your land
You will chase your enemies and they shall fall by the sword before you
Five of you shall chase a hundred and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight your enemies shall fall by the sword before you
For I will look on you favorably and make you fruitful, multiply you and confirm My covenant with you
You shall eat the old harvest and clear out the old because of the new
I will set My tabernacle among you and My soul shall not abhor you
I will walk among you and be your God and you shall be My people”
This scripture speaks about God’s Supernatural supplies in due season, His Divine Increase, Prosperity, Fruitfulness, Abundant Provisions, Peace, Divine Protection from evil beasts and weapons, Divine Favour and victory over all enemies.
1Peter 3:12
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous. And His ears are open to their prayers. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.
