One of our responsibilities at Heirs of The Father (HOTF), is to share with believers and every lover of God, the core values of Biblical Principles and Practices, thus, we shall be exploring The Holy Communion, this month.
As believers, we are encouraged to read and study God’s word deeply so that we might be approved workers who rightly divide the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)
Proverbs 11:9b reads “…But through knowledge the righteous will be delivered.”
Hence, our choice of this Divine, all-encompassing Spiritual Practice, that confers enormous blessings and benefits into believers’ lives.
The Holy Communion was instituted by The Lord Jesus Christ, Himself on the night He was betrayed in accordance to The Feast of Passover which God commanded, the night before He led the children of Israel out of Egypt through the hands of Moses.
(Exodus 12:1-28, Matthew 26:17-30, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)
The Holy Communion also known as “The Lord’s Supper” is recognized as a New Covenant, but very potent like many other covenants, God made with His people.
It is a covenant of His Blood, Body and Life, the same as in the Salvation of Christ in which our Lord gave His Precious Blood and Life to purchase our pardon.
He is The Bread of Life and by His Stripes, we were healed. (John 6:48-51, Colossians 1:14, Ephesians 1:7, Isaiah 53:5)
We were instructed to often observe The Lord’s Supper by The Messiah Himself in remembrance of Him as we proclaim His Death until He returns, meaning each time we obey, the efficacy of the new Blood covenant through the Holy Communion is reenacted and God is specifically attracted into our situations or circumstances.
However, there are steps to follow before partaking in this Spiritual Exercise, otherwise, a person will eat and drink unworthily without discerning the Lord’s Body which can lead to sickness, spiritual weakness and sleep (Biblical expression for glorious transition)
(Acts 2:36- 39, 40-47, 1 Corinthians 11:27-31)
Necessary Steps Preceding the Holy Communion.
1. Repentance from sins.
2. Receiving the Word. (Salvation in Christ)
3. Baptism in Jesus’ Name
4. Continuing steadfastly (not backsliding) in the Apostles’ Doctrine (Same Doctrine of Christ – Repentance from sin, Baptism in Jesus’ Name and The Gift of The Holy Spirit)
5. Fellowship through sharing and caring for others with gladness and simplicity of heart.
6. Prayer
7. Being in one accord in unity and love
8. Praising God
Beloved, when we observe to do all that Christ commanded with the Covenant of the Communion, we will be spiritually sound and alert, richly blessed, supernaturally healed, divinely favoured and protected with our youth renewed as we enjoy the longevity of life (His promise of Abundant life)
