WHO IS A CHILD OF GOD?

Praise GOD! It is a New Month!! Thank GOD for HIS FAITHFULNESS!!!

This month, we shall be taking a closer look at being born of God.

First of all, let’s define the word, ‘Child’.

The Oxford Dictionary describes a child as;

a young human being below the age of puberty or below the legal age of majority  e.g. “She’d been playing tennis since she was a child.”

a son or daughter of any age. e.g. “When children leave home, parents can feel somewhat redundant. ”

an immature or irresponsible person. e.g. “She’s such a child!”

These three definitions are akin to the biblical definition of a child.

Here are some of the questions that might flood our minds:

How did God birth us?

Does God even have a child or children?

Am I qualified to be a child of God?
If yes, how do I know that I am qualified?
If not, how do I qualify?

To gain understanding, we must allow the Holy Spirit to guide us through believing the Biblical account of how God created Adam and Eve (Our Fore-father and Mother by whom the entire human race began).

HOW DID GOD BIRTH US?

Man was created in God’s image meaning he resembled God and carried His DNA until sin, from Satan ruined that blessed nature of holiness and righteousness, thus humanity became evil, wicked, unholy, and unrighteous. Just like a newborn baby who has a great aura of innocence around him from birth to a certain age with the equal potential of becoming the vilest sinner, if he does not reconcile with God or fully yield his will to Him when he reaches the age of accountability.

We are birthed by God in Christ when we genuinely repent, forsake sins, and believe therefore confess The Lordship of Jesus Christ over our lives. We automatically become adopted into God’s Royal Family; not forgetting that we once belonged there but were kicked out due to our desires to follow Satan, rather than serve God.

DOES GOD HAVE A CHILD OR CHILDREN?

Of course, HE DOES!
God does not ONLY have a child: In fact, He has many children. His Begotten Son, Jesus Christ demonstrated sonship to the world. All believers past, present, future, old or new owe their sonship to His Precious Sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary.

AM I QUALIFIED TO BE A CHILD OF GOD?

Absolutely! But it takes becoming a new creation because all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. John 3:16 is an invitation to becoming qualified. (2 Corinthians 5:17; Romans 3:23)

“For God so loved the world that He gave His Begotten son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life”. John 3:16
Only those who honour this invitation by God qualify!

HOW DO I KNOW, I AM QUALIFIED?

The Holy Spirit bears you witness that you are His. You experience great joy and peace, knowing that God has forgiven you. Moreso, others can see the positive transformation that has taken place in your life.

HOW DO I QUALIFY TO BE A CHILD OF GOD?

First of all, you must acknowledge God as your Father and your Creator, without whom there will be NO YOU!

Then, you must accept that you were conceived in sin and repent from all your sins (both known and unknown).

You must believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and accept Him as your Lord and Savior.

You must fellowship in a Bible-believing church to enhance your spiritual growth and make time to read, study God’s word, and pray always.

You must be baptized.

You must love the brethren, be willing to serve, and give a witness of Christ to others who are not saved yet.

In conclusion, being a child of God is the preliminary step that we take into reconciling back to God, Our Father. He desires us to be His Sons, His Heirs, and Joint Heirs with Christ.  Romans 8:17

He is seeking those who will walk with Him by faith as His Sons in this end time.
All Creation is waiting for the manifestation of the Sons of God and as many as are led by The Spirit of God are the Sons of God. Romans 8:14, 19

If anyone refuses to grow, mature, or advance in Him through faith, His soul will have no pleasure in him. Hebrews 10:38

Shalom!
